The DC Area has several recognized Alumni Associations for Brothers wishing to pursue leadership development, service projects, and fellowship events appropriate for their age and place in life.
The National Capital Area Alumni Association is for ALL Alumni Brothers living in DC and the Maryland and Virginia suburbs. This association is ideal for graduates of the last decade who have relocated to DC. Website: www.aponca.org
There are also Alumni Associations for alums of the chapters at American, Howard, and Georgetown Universities.
From time to time, a chapter will have a vacancy for a campus, community, or scouting advisor. If a chapter is in need of an advisor, we will be sure to pass along vacancy announcements and job descriptions as they arise.
Alumni volunteers make up Section Staff. They help serve as Chapter Representatives who help promote inter-chapter cooperation, reporting of required data, and applications for awards, among other things. Other section staff members help plan conferences, fellowship events, and service projects on a section-wide level. If you are interested in joining Section Staff in the DC area or Eastern Maryland, please contact the Section Chair, .
Since you were last active in APO, our approach to leadership development has probably changed a little. The Fraternity has now instituted a program called APO LEADS, a five part, modular program for developing leaders that is useful for actives, alumni, and students starting or rechartering chapters.
Did you know that the demand for these workshops is so high that the fraternity cannot meet the need? Why? Because we always need more trainers! APO Alumni are perfectly suited to presenting APO LEADS workshops.
Becoming a certified APO LEADS trainer and volunteering a day per semester to run workshops makes an impact in the lives of anywhere from 30 to 100 students a year!
If you are interested in becoming an APO LEADS trainer, please click here.
If you are an alum who is interested in sponsoring an extension effort (a new chapter or rechartering chapter), please the Section Chair as your first point of contact.
